Summer & Skincare made easy
Dr.Vidhi’s tips for Easy skincare routine
Hello my dear friends,
I have always been asked several times that what it takes to have a clear, flawless & radiant skin. My answer to that is very simple, Skin is a not just a covering, it’s the largest organ of the human body and to have a good skin it requires to have a holistic approach for life. I always believe in you are what you eat, drink and think! Yes all these things matters immensely. Tried and tested, these are some of the best skincare formulas that really work esp. for my patients here at my London clinic. We all suffer from skin issues at some point of time in our lives. There are some skin problems, which are just superficial while most others are related to internal problems within the body. Skin conditions depend on various numbers of factors, such as hormonal imbalance, blood impurity, stomach problems like indigestion, constipation, IBS etc. Homeopathy has proven effective in treating various skin problems, such as eczema, skin rashes, allergic dermatitis, Urticaria as well as acne. Some of my best remedies for skin care Calendula, Natrum Mur, Sepia, Graphites, Thuja and Pulsatila.
Some of my Nutritional tips that work well for a beautiful & radiant skin esp in the summer months
1.Choose water based foods: Eating water based fruits and vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, watermelon, grapes, cucumbers, celery, oranges, cantaloupe, peppers will help keep the skin hydrated from within esp. when climate change is happening around us. Of course nothing replaces a good enough supply of water per day, which should be 2.5 litres for woman and 3.0 litres for a man.
2. Choose foods that are high in minerals esp. Sulphur: Fruits and vegetables that are high in sulphur help in promoting healthy skin rejuvenation, especially asparagus, garlic, free range eggs, radish, turnips, watercress and coconut are some of the great choices.
3. For cases with severe acne, try taking a regular supply of Probiotics (or a bowl of homemade probiotic plain yoghurt) along with a Zinc supplement at bedtime.
4. The most important rule for having a beautiful skin is to avoid white bread totally, as well as processed breakfast cereals, pretzels, potato chips, cookies and cakes, etc. Choose some low glycaemic-index foods like vegetables, whole grains, sweet potatoes, and most fruits.
5. Sometimes even after taking preventative measures and eating the right foods, it is not enough and we need some external help to tone and nourish the skin. So here are some simple home remedies, tried and tested by me and a lot of my patients as well have come back with excellent results
a) For dry skin types: Mash a ripe avocado with 4-8 drops of lime juice and a teaspoon of organic honey. Apply this on the face and leave it for about 15-20 minutes and wipe off later, followed by a splash of cold water. And you are ready to rock any party coming your way with a natural glow!
b) For oily skin types: Mash half a tomato and mix it with 1 tsp of rice flour, or oatmeal, or any flour of your choice and 2 tsp of rose water and finally a couple of drops of lemon. Mix this well and spread it evenly onto your face for about 10-15 minutes. Thereafter wipe of the paste with a clean but wet tissue and then a splash of cold water at the end.
Remember to moisturise your face after any of these natural face masks. Since these are every freshly made and free for any preservations, it is advisable not to store it or reuse it later, the best results are gained only when used fresh.
Enjoy your summer, be happy, and be healthy!
See you soon,
Namaste
