DETOX: Health Trend of the Century
Hello friends,
Wishing you are very happy and
healthy New Year ahead…
20-25 years ago, there was nothing
called DETOX… all we had was an understanding of good foods and not so good
foods (by the way there is nothing called as BAD foods) Today, everything we do
has some repercussions on our very own
health…The air we breathe, the foods we eat and the water we drink used to be
pure and refreshing, once upon a time, long back, seems not so real but it was,
we can ask our grandparents and confirm this fact…Detoxifying is the key
principle indeed but also a daily
activity as a part of the routine when it comes to maintaining youth and
vitality. Internal purification, especially when done the Ayurvedic way,
cleanses you thoroughly, promoting your overall well-being.
Detox seems to be one of the
buzzwords of this decade. We find everything from detox herbal teas to magic
detox quick fix pills and fancy detox patches in the market today.
Unfortunately most of them don’t fulfill the bodily needs and goals of a
cleansing detox plan. For example if you make a constant effort to drink a
large glass of hot water with a thick slice of organic unwaxed lemon daily
first thing in the morning, you are doing a detox for a lifetime or if you are
drinking a fresh grapefruit juice daily about 1 cup, is more than enough to
stay alkaline for the entire day.
Some of the best and easy to remember DETOX foods that can be used all year around and not just in January each year…
1. Any seasonal Fruit. Fruit is high in liquid-content which helps the body wash out toxins. ...
2. Green Foods such as spinach, kale, avocado, watercress, etc.
3. Lemons, Grapefruit and Limes
4. Garlic and Ginger
5. Broccoli and Sprouts of all types
6. Green Tea and Ginger tea
7. Mung Beans and black beans
And the simple DON’T’s to keep in mind is also equally important
1.Do not go to extremes
While you shift from what you normally eat and drink, make sure to not go into extreme & sudden drastic changes. A common thought is that you have to starve yourself for extended periods or live on a liquid diet for days before you eat anything or some fads says to live only on fruits, which by the way is extremely dangerous on your blood sugar levels. So never go onto an extreme or drastic change while making up your mind to do detox…A good detox is a balance of good foods, drinks and exercise.
2. Do not Skip Water
No matter which detox diet or plan you go with you must keep up your water intake up... The reason it is so important is that the internal organs will be on a detox mode, which means they have to work extra hard to do a daily liver cleanse and will want to throw out any toxins from the body anyhow…
3.The Mind-sets: Post Detox
You will have to establish what the new “normal†will be for you once you’ve completed the detox. Are you going to go back to your old ways of eating or are you using this chance to benefit from for long term or as even as lifetime changes? Questions like these must be asked during the pre-preparation phase or while on the detox, and if you find it is working and helping you there should be high possibility of adapting to this kind of change for as long as you can…
Bless you my friends, Happy New year once again and Happy Detox,
Namaste
